A Little About the Creative Eye Behind the Lens
I’m a mother, stepmother, and a “young” Gigi (40-something is still young… right?). I’m partnered with a man who supports me endlessly… and somehow still manages to leave his clothes everywhere except the laundry basket. Together we’ve built a big, blended, boisterous family with seven children between us—all incredible adults. Two of them are now married with children of their own, which is where the Gigi title comes in. And let me tell you… that upgrade has been the greatest adventure yet.
During the summer you’ll usually find our family on Higgins Lake, where my husband and I technically live year-round. In the winter, however, you’ll often find me closer to Genesee County, where the grandkids are. My wonderful husband is an over-the-road truck driver and spends 5–6 days a week on the road during the winter months. And honestly… why stay home alone when I could be where my people are?
My photography journey first began in the early 2000s when I started capturing sports events and the many school activities my kids were involved in. Like many parents, life became full with the responsibilities of raising a family, and photography quietly took a step back for a while. When I found my way back to photography, it became something much deeper than simply taking pictures. It became a way to hold onto the moments that matter most. I carry the memory of my youngest son, Adrian, with me in everything I create. Despite his own inner struggles, he taught me more about love, strength, and compassion than I could have ever imagined. Losing him changed the way I see the world—and the way I see the moments that pass through it. Because of Adrian, I understand just how fleeting time can be. The quiet glances, the laughter between loved ones, the way someone reaches for another person's hand—these are the moments that truly matter. Every time I press the shutter, I’m reminded that photographs become part of the legacy we leave behind. Capturing those moments has become my way of honoring the beauty of life and the people we hold closest to our hearts.
When I press the shutter, it isn’t just about taking a photo—it’s about preserving a moment that will never happen in quite the same way again. I’m known to get a little excited when reviewing images… the “oohs” and “ahhhs” definitely escape me. My enthusiasm tends to be contagious, and laughter is usually part of the experience when you’re working with me.
Photography, for me, is about connection, storytelling, and celebrating the beautiful moments that make up our lives.
If you’re looking for someone who will not only photograph your moments but truly see them, I would be honored to tell your story.
And now that you know a little about me… I’d love the chance to learn about you.
